Golfito is one of the best areas in Costa Rica to spot Dolphins, The Golfo Dulce Bay is a tropical fjord of great marine diversity which is a paradise for different species of dolphins including two resident species that can be observed in Golfito throughout the year, the bottlenose dolphin and the spotted dolphin.
Dolphin watching is one of the most popular activities in Golfito, and it is a tour suitable for all ages and physical conditions
During this tour we will pick you up directly from the Golfito or Puerto Jimenez pier of your choice, and if you’re not staying at a place with pier the tour will depart from the Golfito Municipal pier in front of Pearson Supermarket.
We have different boats for the dolphin tour, boats with room for 4, 8, 23 and up to 50 people.
All with canopy roof to protect you from the sun, with respective life jackets and permits. We can do the dolphin watching activity for groups up to a maximum of 70 people per tour.
The best time to do the Golfito Dolphin Tour is early in the morning, we can depart at 6:00, 7:00, 8:00 ó 9:00 am.
This way we will have more opportunities to spot them because dolphins feeding activity usually peaks in the early morning.

There are three species of odontocetes in the waters of Golfo Dulce: the resident Bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) and the coastal form of the Pantropical Spotted dolphin (Stenella attenuata), also the occasionally seen False Killer Whales (Pseudorca crassidens).
Rough-toothed dolphins (Steno bredanensis) and Spinner Dolphins (Stenella longirostris) have been also observed inside the Golfo Dulce Bay.
