Let our tropical rainforest and delicate mangrove ecosystem knock you out of your seat. This Coto River Mangrove experience is highly recommended for any naturalist, young or old, who wants to get to know firsthand the pulse of the mangrove ecosystem.
Ride comfortably under the shade of several tall species of mangroves, which grow only in select areas of the world and in Costa Rica.
Mangroves exist in estuaries, the confluent places where saltwater comes together with freshwater.
The plants are both varied and unique, but can be invariably recognized by their striking root systems, which delve beneath the surface of the water to prop up the plants above.
A great variety of animals reside within this habitat, including caimans, snakes, monkeys, iguanas, and several species of birds.
The Golfito Mangrove tour allow travelers to explore these complex waterways from the security of our covered boat.
What to bring?
There’s no special requirements for the Golfito Coto River Mangrove Tour but we always recommend to bring the following items:
Keep your skin safe by applying suncream prior to your departure. A hat will also help to keep the sun off your face and out of your eyes, and can also guard against messy hair in the sea winds. Sunglasses are also suggested as the sun’s reflection on the water can be bright or glaring. A good pair of sunglasses will protect your eyes and ensure you are able to spot all those exciting wildlife sightings!
The memories you make on our Golfito Dolphin Tour are those you’ll want to remember and share with others. Don’t forget to bring your camera to capture them. The camera you bring along is at your discretion, but many of our guests find that their phones or GoPro cameras work best. If possible, bring a waterproof covering/case, to guard against sea sprays.
Fruits and bottle water.
